The Minarets from Lake Ediza, High Sierra

from $50.00

It’s a long hike from Mammoth Lakes to Lake Ediza with a load of cameras and backpacking gear (at least for me). The reward is this view of the Minarets, a ridge of sharp pinnacles that has a sawtooth profile, caused by glaciers carving the rocks from two sides. It’s a rock climber’s paradise, as well as a photographer’s one. I camped here and took this in the morning.

Photographed with a Hasselbad or black and white film using a green filter. (darkens sky, lightens grass). The negative was scanned with a wet mount system. The image was adjusted in photoshop for contrast, and burned and dodged. The image was then printed on an archival Canon Printer on archival paper. This is a very detailed image that can be enlarged well.
